Last week our excellent Senior Producer Karl Bos attended Euroradio Jazz Orchestra 2025 on behalf of the BBC.
Every other year, the EBU Jazz Producers put together a new big band, comprised of leading jazz musicians aged under 30 from across Europe.
Each nation’s Public Service Broadcaster can select one player, and the BBC, with help from Folded Wing, picked the brilliant trombonist Anoushka Nanguy to take part.
This year’s 60th anniversary edition was hosted by Radio-Television Slovenia, and culminated in two outstanding concerts in Ljubljana and Zagreb.
It’s an incredible event that brings together the continent’s best emerging jazz talent, and creates some fantastic music along the way.
Speaking about the project, Karl said...
“For eighteen strangers to come together, and so quickly gel into a phenomenal group like this is beyond impressive. What’s more, they’ve all gained friends and are already talking about future collaborations - it’s a really valuable experience for young musicians at this stage in their careers.”
You’ll be able to hear an interview with Anoushka and highlights from the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra concerts on ‘Round Midnight in June.
You can listen to 'Round Midnight on BBC R3 every weekday night at 1130 and playback on BBC Sounds
