Team
Karen is passionate about music and radio, and about finding new ways to combine the two. That’s why she set up Folded Wing, and why it’s now recognised as one of the most innovative production companies around. She developed her production skills at BBC Radio 1, including seven years with Gilles Peterson’s legendary Worldwide show. She’s a respected club DJ and an authority on a wide range of cutting edge music.
Ella-mai arrived at Folded Wing from the BBC World Service and Nations Division, where she was Senior Adviser to the Executive Leadership Team. Prior to that she was Editor of Radio 4’s live daily arts programme, Front Row - and has had a diverse career in both speech and music programming: from high profile live music OB's to beat-mixed electronic music podcasts.
Nat has over 20 years’ experience supporting and organising all types of people from a huge variety of industries. She joined Folded Wing in 2021 armed with an expansive passion for music, radio, all that goes in-between plus boundless enthusiasm.
Karl started his radio journey aged 15 presenting on a local community station and never looked back. After spells on student and internet radio, then 6 years at the BBC producing arts and culture programmes and documentaries, he joined Folded Wing.
Pippa found her love for radio whilst studying at the University of East Anglia, where she also started up a cassette tape label and the first student-led festival there. At Folded Wing, she is the Producer of BBC Introducing on Radio 1 with Gemma Bradley, BBC Introducing on R1 Dance with Jaguar, and Selector Radio with Jamz Supernova for the British Council.
Matt got into radio through volunteering at a local community station where he then went on to study at Point Blank Music School. Upon completing his course, he was offered a place on the internship programme where he was then promoted to a Production Assistant then Assistant Producer, working across multiple projects at Folded Wing.
Ian is one of the most experienced programme makers in UK radio, with more than three decades as a producer, presenter, editor and senior leader. He joined Folded Wing in 2007 and is the Executive Producer for many of our BBC shows including Jamie Cullum’s BBC Radio 2 show, and oversees other key projects. He specialises in developing existing and new on-air talent.
Sandie has a very special interest in Folded Wing’s continued success, as CEO Karen P’s Mum. She’s had many years experience in office management and book-keeping, including running the UK office for an international freight forwarding company. Her main interests are being Karen’s number one fan, and proudest Mum.
Fran has been immersed in music all her life, from DJ’ing to Radio production including The Hot Pot Show with Mr Scruff & Treva Whateva, Electric Souls Sound System with The Unabombers and working on shows such as The Essential Mix (BBC R1). Her experience and enthusiasm are limitless which makes her a perfect asset working with our team on FTLOHH.

Roots to the Future is a new audio industry development scheme that aims to increase diverse representation at entry level in the audio production industry.
