Happy New Year from all at Folded Wing!

We hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year break and here's to a great 2014.

It's only right that our first blog of the year looks forward to all the amazing music we're excited about for 2014 and it was nigh-on impossible to limit our picks to one per person. But that's what we've done. We'd love to hear what you're excited about too - tweet us @foldedwinguk or get in touch on our Facebook page...

GoGo Penguin

"I can't wait for the new GoGo Penguin album! It's called 'v2.0' & out in February. I love this band - they're signed to Matthew Halsall's label Gondwana. Here's a nice clip of them live in Manchester."

DJ Nature

"Just before Christmas I had the pleasure of hearing DJ Nature (aka Milo, formerly of Bristol's Wild Bunch crew) play a killer 3+ hour set down at the recently refurbed Plastic People. He played one track in particular that night that really turned my head, a lovely deep Theo Parrish 'Solitary Flight'-style track with beautiful chords that has been haunting me ever since. It turns out it's one of DJ Nature's own new productions and is featured on a limited edition box set that he's bringing out this year in conjunction with Golf Channel Recordings & Gimme Five. The box set will also include a T- Shirt, mix and 12" vinyl of re-edits. CANNOT WAIT.

As the track in question is not out yet, here's a link to an amazing 4 hour mix that DJ Nature posted on his SoundCloud page shortly after the Plastic People night. There's lots of tunes in the mix that he played at the Plastics night but not 'the one'. He's no doubt wary of his new tracks getting bootlegged, so for now I'll just have to make do with the sound memories in my head."

Catfish & The Bottlemen

"These guys released a couple of singles last year and I'm hoping that 2014 will see them release their debut album. Probably the most exciting indie rock band I've heard for a while, recent single 'Rango' is just a proper good sing-a-long anthem. I spent much of last summer with it on repeat; me air guitaring/drumming and singing away! Can't wait to see them live at some point!"

Jungle

"I'm really excited by a new band called Jungle. Sounding a bit like early TV On The Radio and The Invisible, but with maybe a bit more of a slant towards soul. This video for 'Platoon' was my favourite of 2013."

Gnarwolves

"I'm really excited to hear the first full length Gnarwolves album that's due out this year. I know absolutely nothing about the record but they played a couple of tracks from it when I saw them live last year and it sounded as epic as their previous EPs.

The 'CRU' EP got me into them in the first place - it's a good starting point."

Lucy's Choice

"I've been really into the Danish singer , aka Karen Marie Ørsted, since I heard her single 'Pilgrim' in early 2013. 2013 saw her do a track with Diplo and perform sold-out shows throughout Europe, including at London's XOYO, where she climbed the DJ booth and danced through the crowd so it was a pretty big year for her, but I reckon 2014 could be even more huge. Her debut album 'No Mythologies To Follow' is out in February and I can't wait to hear it."
