The Staves - 'If I Was'
"I am such a sucker for a harmony and The Staves may well be the best in the business! This is such a huge step up, this track in particular, 'Black & White', is the perfect example of that. I guess it would be difficult to go wrong when you have Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) producing... the best thing to come out of Watford since 'Harry Potter World!'"

Everything Everything - 'Get To Heaven'
"Never really been a big fan before this album came out but it's brilliant - the combination of really interesting production and instrumentation with witty, sharp lyrics is a winner for me. "Spring / Summer / Winter / Dread" is easily one of my favourite songs of the year but the whole record is great and would be a worthy Mercury nominee."

Eska - 'Eska'
"Eska is an incredible and unique British voice who has been around for many years but never got the acclaim she deserves. It was fantastic to see her debut solo album finally arrive, sound so good, and get such an overwhelmingly positive reaction across the board. She smashed it."

Andreya Triana - 'Giants'
"There is only one choice... Miss Andreya Triana... 2015 is her year and she has worked so hard to make a kick arse album! It’s been amazing seeing her played across 1Xtra & two A list records on Radio 2, come on Andreya! The opening track is my favourite and ‘Everything You Never Had’ gets me every time! Fingers crossed for the Mercury's!"

Foals - 'What Went Down'
"This was a very difficult choice as there's been loads of great albums released that are on an equal par for me. One that I was particularly excited about this year was the new album by Foals and it didn't disappoint, showcasing their ability to make big boisterous tunes, all whilst maintaining a great sense of melody. They also know how to do beautiful subtle tracks equally as well. They've been nominated for a Mercury before - I would love to see them bring the bacon home this year!"

Andreya Triana - 'Giants'
"Like Karen, this is my favourite album of the year, a brilliant record!"
