Today marks the return of BBC 6 Music’s Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day and to celebrate we’ve picked our favourite old T-shirts from the back of our wardrobes…

Ian’s Choice:
"Not really a ‘band’ T-shirt as such, but I've never really been into 'bands' that much. This is from DBC, one of the first pirate radio stations in London and regulars at the Notting Hill Carnival and big reggae events. The T-shirt design is dated 1979 but I'm pretty sure I bought it some time in the mid-eighties from their stall/soundsystem on Portobello Road. I still wear it occasionally as well!”
Jim’s Choice:
"Summer 1984. Frankie Goes To Hollywood are the new bad boys of music, who the kids love and the adults hate. Not only has 'Two Tribes' gone straight in at No. 1 (where it would stay for 9 weeks) but previous single 'Relax (Don't Do It)' has climbed back up to No. 2 as well! They're basically taking over the world and upsetting people everywhere with videos and lyrics about gay sex and nuclear war. So when you're 11 and in the third year of primary school, this was the only t-shirt that mattered. And no I didn't know what the words meant (as my Uncle Peter once pointed out to me)."
Lucy’s Choice:
“I have very few band T-shirts but my favourite is this Fang Island one I got a couple of years ago when I went to see them at Birthdays. Even if I really love a band a T-shirt has to be really great for me to want it and this one fits the bill."
Pete’s Choice:
“When I was 13/14 Inspiral Carpets had a bit of a comeback, which inevitably meant a comeback for their infamous 'Cool As ****' T-shirt. It was one of my first proper gigs I had been to (I don't count Steps and Robbie Williams), and I begged my dad to let me buy one, he finally caved in and I thought I was the coolest kid in town wearing it!”
Matt’s Choice:
"When I first started going to gigs I used to buy a band T-shirt pretty much every time I went (admittedly the rubbish ones from the man outside for a fiver). My favourite T-shirt I bought was this Maximo Park T-shirt I'm modelling below (excuse the dodgy hair style) which I brought after their gig at Birmingham 02 Academy back in 2007, when I was 17. I used to, and still do, love Maximo and 2007 was a bit of a ‘golden era' of indie gigs so that’s why I’ve chosen this in particular."
Sandie’s Choice:
“If you read the blog regularly you’ll know by now that I’m a massive Neil Diamond fan. I brought his new album recently and love it… this T-shirt is on my Christmas list!”
Heather’s Choice:
“I chose this T-shirt because it is the first ever music-related T-shirt I had. I was completely obsessed with the Spice Girls and the colour pink, so my uncle got this T-shirt from Cows, the ice cream company in Canada, and sent it over to me for my 4th birthday. I still wear it sometimes.”
