Into August with another fantastic BBC Maida Vale studio session and interview from New York based pianist and composer Vijay Iyer.

Vijay plays tracks from his recent trio album Historicity, his new release Solo, and talks about how he applies his love of mathematics to his music, as well as his wide range of influences including the Indian classical and religious music of his youth.

Plus there's fantastic music from Chet Baker, Peggy Lee, Phronesis, Harry Belafonte, Herbie Hancock, Gábor Szabó, Son House and Rickie Lee Jones.

Now that's what you call across the board.

Enjoy!
