Folded Wing are excited to announce an incredible line up for this Sunday’s ‘Round Midnight curated free event at the Barbican Freestage as part of the 2025 London Jazz Festival.
Read moreKicking off the event at 4pm are lvdf, an international jazz supergroup consisting of members from the UK, Italy and New Zealand that have been described as “virtuosos” (The Guardian), “electric”(Okayplayer), and “absolutely crazy good” (Gilles Peterson). lvdf is a collaboration between four artists at the forefront of their respective, boundary-pushing jazz scenes: saxophonist Alex Hitchcock, pianist and synth soundscaper Maria Chiara Argiro, double bassist Michelangelo Scandroglio and drummer Myele Manzanza.
At 5pm, Zimbabwean-born, London-raised artist ESKA, who has long been revered as a boundary-pushing collaborator and visionary performer, will grace the stage. Her solo journey began with the Gatekeeper EP (2013), followed by her Mercury-nominated debut album ESKA (2015) and, a decade later, The Ordinary Life of a Magic Woman (2025): hailed by The Wire as 'an avant pop masterpiece', receiving a 5/5 by Record Collector for being 'A genre-defying hour of 80s synth pop, rhythm and blues, glitchy electronica, gospel and glam rock. Incredible stuff'.
Rounding up the incredible line-up at 6pm is composer-performer Laura Jurd. Her music celebrates and innovates the rich traditions of jazz and folk music, digging into something primal and earthy, whilst taking twists and turns that prove Laura to be one of the UK's most distinctive composer-performers in contemporary music.
It promises to be an event to remember - the team look forward to seeing you on Sunday 23rd November from 3:30pm at the Barbican Freestage!
