On 5th August 2011 Folded Wing and Martyn Ware (Illustrious) hosted the ‘ReAnimate’ event at the National Portrait Gallery, part of their Late Shift Extra series.

For one night only ‘ReAnimate’ turned the National Portrait Gallery into a five-sense experience for its visitors. 3D sonic landscapes were created in response to portraits at the gallery by groundbreaking sound artists such as Illum Sphere, Tracey Moberly, Brian Duffy, Martyn Ware and Mira Calix and there were live performances from the likes of Marvin Ayres, Andreya Triana and Ben Westbeech. There was also a bespoke ReAnimate perfume created especially for the night, a special ReAnimate cocktail, a unique wearable instrument created by Di Mainstone, digital installations by students from Goldsmiths and DJ sets from Folded Wing’s very own Karen & Jim, including a very special set from Illum Sphere.

The event was a huge success with over 3500 people coming through the doors on the night. We look forward to doing more events with the National Portrait Gallery and Illustrious in the future so watch this space!
