In February 2010, the Red Bull Music Academy touched down in Folded Wing’s home-town, London. To celebrate it’s arrival, Red Bull Music Academy Radio launched a UK ‘Inside Out’ series, taking us deep into the beating heart of some of the UK’s great musical cities. Asked to pilot a london-centric edition that focused on the Big Smoke, we came up with ‘London Belongs to Me’ and as a result, a six part series was commissioned.
Recorded entirely ‘on-location’, the first episode is a personal journey through the UK’s hallowed capital with dubstep pioneer and Digital Mystik Mala leading the way - from the South London home he grew up in to the record shops of his youth, via the mastering studios where some of the most influential dubstep plates have been cut. Along the way we meet his oldest friend and musical partner Coki and former Academy participant and collaborator Andreya Triana.
Backed by music selected especially by the artist, ‘London Belongs to Me’ will continue to focus on the personal and musical journeys of some of our most important innovators including The Orb’s Alex Patterson and legendary DJ/producer/artist, Andrew Weatherall.
