We were approached by strategic communications and campaigns agency GallieGodfrey to create a thirty minute piece of audio that features all the sounds of Santa’s workshop. This is to be broadcast by digital platform operator Arqiva and interspersed with free airtime given to charities who have a suitable Christmas message and appeal to run.
The aim of Radio Lapland was created to give children an original and exciting station to listen to during the festive period, capturing their imagination as they gain an insight into Santa and his elves getting ready for Christmas. Santa’s voice was recorded by leading British film and stage actor Julian Wadham. It was also created as part of the Digital Radio UK campaign to promote the digital platform in the festival period.
Radio Lapland ran from the 10th December through to Christmas in more than 20 regions across the UK including Plymouth, Cornwall, Cardiff and Newport and South Hampshire as well as online.
The project garnered a huge amount of press UK and beyond, with features from The Sun, The Guardian and a piece on Chris Evan’s Radio 2 show.
