Blast is the BBC’s network of creative teenagers. It provides access to mentors both online and in free events and workshops across the UK. Blast’s website provides a constant stream of inspirational videos that cover creative subjects from painting portraits to beat-boxing. Aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 19, and with opportunities to showcase talent, enter competitions and get exclusive creative work experience opportunities, it’s the place for the UK’s teenagers to get creative.

Having worked a lot within the BBC’s education programmes at 21CC, Folded Wing’s director Karen Pearson was chosen to script and present a 4 part ‘How To’ video series, offering young people inspiration and guidance for ‘making a radio package’. Focusing on key areas of radio production, Karen presented tips and tricks on giving interviews, a guide to editing audio and even a guide to mistakes to look out for and learn from.

One of the key elements in producing great radio is Sound Design, and in order to demonstrate it’s importance, Folded Wing produced a brand new BBC Blast jingle package for the videos. These jingles wil now be used throughout BBC Blast’s output, adding that extra special Folded Wing dimension to their videos.
