The SRA Selector Winner '16 is...

After months of presenting and producing their own versions of our globally syndicated show, The Selector for the British Council on their student radio stations, the winner of this year's SRA (Student Radio Association) Selector initiative was announced last week as part of the 'I Love Student Radio Awards' at the Student Radio Conference in Cardiff.

And the winner is...

After much deliberation by team members at Folded Wing and The British Council, of the entries submitted from our six students, Phil Catchpole from The British Council appeared via video screen (due to being out of the country on Selector duties!) to announce that Andy Backhouse, University of Westminster is the winner of this year's initiative. Massive congratulations Andy!

As his prize for winning, Andy will spend a week at The Selector's sister station Ibero 90.9 FM in Mexico City to work with The Selector team out there. Not bad!

Phil also gave a special mention to Christie Driver-Snell, University of Leeds who produced some of the best original features and extra content we've heard / seen over the 3 years we have run the initiative. Christie will be coming to Folded Wing HQ to shadow some of our shows, as well as doing a mix for The Selector's sister show The Selector After Dark.

We'd like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to each of the six students who took part in this year's SRA Selector, the standard of entries made it very hard to select a winner (the hardest it's ever been, in fact!). We wish you all the very best for the future.
