After a competitive pitch, Folded Wing have won the contract to produce the weekly Monki show on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra!
Monki is Radio 1 & 1Xtra's newest talent and joined the network as one of the roster for the In New DJs We Trust strand, before being given her own slot earlier this year.
Broadcast on BBC Radio 1 every Monday from 0200-0400, and simulcast on BBC 1Xtra, Monki’s programme showcases a wide range of new electronic dance music, playing tracks from all corners of club culture from house to grime. Guests on her show so far have included Oxide, My Nu Leng, Josey Rebelle, Roska, Champion, Flume, Slimzee, Sinden, Moxie and many more.
Folded Wing's CEO, Karen P, said; “We’re all huge fans of the show and she’s the most exciting new DJ I’ve heard on radio in a very long time. We are experts in developing and nurturing new talent, and we’re excited to help Monki grow as a broadcaster and become one of the key members of the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra family.”
Alongside her BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra show, Monki is a regular fixture behind the decks at clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe. She also runs her own very successful digital imprint ZOO Music.
We begin production of Monki’s show on Monday, 2nd December. Exciting times!
