Last month we offered six student radio stations and presenters the chance to apply to host our regular show The Selector for The British Council on their own stations. Each lucky station would have the chance to present and produce The Selector for six months, bringing their own creative ideas and personal style to the show, and all six stations would receive an in-depth production training session from Folded Wing.

We received applications from over 25 different UK student radio stations and had some really high quality entries. Picking the final six was no mean feat but we feel we have picked six excellent stations and presenters that can really take on The Selector and make it their own.

We are now very happy to announce that the six presenters and stations who have been chosen to host the show are:

Jack Saunders – Fly FM – Nottingham Trent University
Louis Chadwick – Shock Radio – University of Salford
Michael Walmsley – Forge Radio – University of Sheffield
Lauren Rosewarne – RaW1251am – University of Warwick
Hazel Morgan – Xpression FM – Exeter University
Lloyd Bent – Purple Radio – University of Durham

The six students will be coming down to Folded Wing’s studios in October for an in-depth training day to learn everything they need to know about The Selector and get some production training from all the team at Folded Wing.

Launched by The British Council in 2001, The Selector is an international showcase for the best new music the UK has to offer - presented by Sam Hall aka Goldierocks, it's a weekly two-hour programme that covers all styles of music, from indie, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything in between. The show features interviews, mixes and exclusive live sessions from some of the most exciting British artists. With an audience estimated to be in excess of 4 million listeners, The Selector is syndicated to 39 FM stations around the world including Mexico, Columbia, Israel, Poland, Malawi, Hungary, Indonesia, Bulgaria and China.

Congratulations to those chosen! This is a fantastic opportunity and we can't wait to hear your shows.
