As you may have gathered, we at Folded Wing like to have our fingers in as vast a variety of quirky and interesting projects as possible. Even we couldn’t have predicted however, that this little gem would take off in such a big way. Have a read and then definitely have a listen – its sure to melt even the most hardened scrooge’s heart!

Created for digital radio and online and broadcast from 10th of December until Christmas Eve digital radio listeners can tune into a brand new digital radio station, Radio Lapland, which features all the sounds of Santa’s workshop as well as charity messages to help get people in the Christmas spirit.

Radio Lapland aims to give children an original and exciting station to listen to during the festive period, capturing their imagination as they gain an insight into Santa and his elves getting ready for Christmas.  Santa’s voice was recorded by leading British film and stage actor Julian Wadham, who we had in our studio for a very amusing morning.

Space on the channel will be offered free to any UK charities who have suitable Christmas messages and appeals to run.

Radio Lapland is available on digital radio in more than 20 regions across the UK including Plymouth, Cornwall, Cardiff & Newport and South Hampshire.

The word is spreading too, all over the UK and beyond, features have sprung up in The Sun, The Guardian and Chris Evans even did a feature on his Radio 2 program this week.
